The Grants Officer role will help to transform lives of people supported by Quarriers by writing compelling, concise and convincing proposals to, and managing relationships with, a range of funders, including governmental bodies, lottery distributors, trusts and foundations, in order to maximise income for existing and new Quarriers services. The role will also involve working collaboratively with the wider Income Generation Department to provide mutual support as necessary and to optimise opportunities for developing Quarriers' business through synergies between grants and the wider team.

Quarriers has a flexible working policy, where all Head Office staff have been working from home during the COVID Pandemic. Going forward there will be a flexible approach to a mix of working from home and working in our offices in Quarriers Village.

The successful candidate has a number of key objectives and accountabilities including:

  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge base of relevant grant making opportunities and an understanding of the broader funding landscape, to ensure Quarriers can make optimal use of all relevant grant funding.
  • Work closely with Operational colleagues to encourage a steady pipeline of eligible and completive service proposals, rooted in the person-centered and outcomes-driven approaches, upon which to base funding applications.
  • Research, identify and prepare an agreed programme of proposals to a portfolio of funding schemes to meet fundraising targets and support operational priorities that are focused on meeting the expressed needs of the people supported by Quarriers and/or extending Quarriers services into new geographical areas.
  • Manage relationships with grant makers and funding schemes in order to maximise fundraising opportunities, and to ensure they have the information they require - both narrative and financial - to understand the progress of effectiveness of any grant they have made to Quarriers.

Quarriers “Lifestyle Management Project” seeks to develop a Self-Management Ethos within the clinical setting of our William Quarrier Scottish Epilepsy Centre (WQSEC). We will do this in partnership with The Thistle Foundation and a steering group comprising people we support, carers, WQSEC staff, including our in-house psychologist and wider health and care stakeholders.

Our vision is to develop culture and practices which enable people, whilst inpatients, to explore their own situation, gain insight, skills and impetus to make changes once home and in their own communities. We will use the House of Care model to build an ethos where patients can define what is important to themselves, work collaboratively with their team of healthcare workers once they leave the WQSEC.

We are looking for a part time Lifestyle Management Project Worker (24 hours) to lead the development and embedding of a new Lifestyle Management ethos within the WQSEC that promotes patient choice, engagement and effective self management. To enable patients to make positive life choices and develop self-management techniques to fulfil their potential as confident and independent individuals when back in their home community.

Glasgow North West Carers Centre provides a range of services to unpaid Carers who look after a family member or friend who is unable to manage on their own. This includes Young Carers and their families. Our Carer Support Team works directly with the Carer to help identify community supports and services to enable them to manage their caring role and to maintain their own life, health and wellbeing.

SCOPE

This is a dynamic property portfolio subject to constant change, and the post holder will be responsible for the life cycle of property transactions from acquisitions, through the maintenance cycle and disposal. The James Shield Project provides an accommodation based housing support for young people and comprises 5 two bedroom flats each with a shared kitchen, living room and bathroom. The service is staffed by Project Workers 24 hours per day with a sleepover in operation.

Many of our young people are experiencing complex trauma, as well as secondary issues such as, self-harming behaviours, a history of alcohol and/or substance misuse, involvement in the criminal justice system, mental health difficulties, anger management issues and lack of family or social networks. They also present with low self-esteem, poor social skills, challenging behaviour and a lack of trust in others, this is consequential of their adverse childhood experiences, as well as the compounded rejection and instability they have experienced in their lives.

We are looking for 2 Project Workers and 2 dedicated Project Workers - Nights to provide practical and emotional support that involves building positive relationships with the young people. This is a fundamental part of our support, along with promoting positive role modelling.

We have an experienced and knowledgeable staff team who will provide mentor support as well as an open door policy to the management team. We offer excellent training for all staff both classroom based and learning. We have an 8 week rolling rota for Project Workers and a 2 week rolling rota for Nightshift Project Workers.

Quarriers Shared Lives Family Placement Service was established in 1985 to support individuals being discharged from the long stay hospitals, mainly in West Central Scotland, providing both residential and family placement.

The family placement element of the service has a well-established record of providing and maintaining very successful family placements for adults with disabilities and complex needs. Many have remained in their family placement for more than 20 years and have become integrated into the carers' wider family and their local community. The service continues to attract new placements and there are now a number of younger adults in placement. In 2016, the service expanded when it assimilated a similar service, doubling in size. The combined service continues to provide high-quality placements, with good care inspection reports. We currently have 24 adults living within 22 family placements.

Quarriers has also developed its established fostering service to provide lasting foster placements for children and young people with a learning or physical disability or complex needs, with the first child being placed in January 2014. We have developed a highly regarded service reputation with good care inspection reports. The service currently has 14 children living with ten foster families.

The services are registered separately with the Care Inspectorate; together they comprise Quarriers’ Family Placement Service. We have our office base in Glasgow. The services support carers across the central belt of Scotland to provide high quality and lasting family-based care to adults and children with a learning or physical disability and/or complex needs. As part of Quarriers, the Family Placement Service can access expertise and dedicated training from within the organisation’s wider resources.

We are seeking to recruit a Full Time Supervising Social Worker (35 hours), a suitably qualified worker, who has the enthusiasm, desire and personal qualities to support and develop the work of the service. The successful applicant will ideally have a knowledge of family placement and fostering and the panel process.

The Supervising Social Worker will carry a caseload and work closely with their carers, and their children and adults within their care. This gives the worker the opportunity to build professional relationships and assist in creating a network around the carer and their child and adult.

The existing team consists of 5 Supervising Social Workers, Quality Support Assistant, Panel Support Assistant, Service Manager and Project Manager. The team have a very diverse range of experiences and skills.

This position would ideally suit someone who is currently working in a Fundraising or special events focused role, experienced in relationship management, with good knowledge and experience of the principles of Community Fundraising and with a background in managing volunteers and events as a part of that role. You should have excellent written and oral communications skills, with the ability to influence and persuade and to write compelling proposals to showcase the impact the fundraised income can achieve for the organisation. You should have great presentation and public speaking skills and experience of working with people at all levels within organisations.

We are looking for someone with experience in a similar role, able to demonstrate a strong knowledge and experience of Community fundraising and engagement, confident in developing new innovative ideas and stewarding existing supporters and events.

You should be energetic, enthusiastic, ideas-driven and willing to work collaboratively. This organisation is very keen to find someone keen on throwing themselves into the role in order to gain a comprehensive knowledge about the specifics of the sector.

Quarriers Fundraising, Grants and Business Development department is an exciting place to work with a motivated and energetic team, which is strongly supported by the executive team and board of trustees.

We motivate and facilitate supporters to maximise the funds they raise. Johnstone & Paisley Supported Living Initiative is registered with the Care Inspectorate to provide combined Housing Support and Care at Home to adults with a learning disability. The service currently delivers over 1000 hours of support every week to 14 individuals in their own homes. These services are delivered over three sites; Burns Drive in Johnstone, which has 6 individual self-contained flats, Brewster Avenue in Paisley where 5 people share their home, and a single tenancy in Quarriers Village providing support for one person. A small number of outreach hours are provided to two individuals who live in the local community. The service also has an office base in the centre of Paisley.

The people who use the service have a wide range of needs including Prader Willi Syndrome, Autism, complex communication needs, dysphagia, diabetes, and epilepsy and need both practical and emotional support to live a full life within their communities.

We are looking for a skilled and experienced social care practitioner to lead and develop a staff team of around 50 individuals to deliver high quality, person-centred care to meet the needs of the adults supported by the service.

Promoting people's independence and supporting people to get the most out of life by taking part in activities that matter to them were recognised as service strengths at the most recent Care Inspection. We are seeking someone who has relevant experience of leadership and a solid value base to build on these strengths and nurture the future development of the service.

This role offers excellent career development potential and the opportunity to join an experienced team of professionals who will support the successful candidate to become established in the role of Registered Manager of the service. The Registered Manager of the service is supported by five Team Leaders and a Part Time Administrator, and will be mentored by the services Operational Manager as they undertake a structured induction, as well as having access to a wide range of training and development resources.

There are two parts to manager qualification requirements. You must have a practice and a management qualification. The main qualifications are below.

Quarriers Homelife Ayr aims to provide innovative, person centred support for the people we support in their own home and within the community.

We are looking for an experienced social care practitioner to manage the day to day running of a Care at Home and Supported Living Service in Ayr.

You will have direct management responsibility for a Team of staff which includes Team Leaders, admin workers and approx. 70 support workers who are delivering in the region of 1500 hours of care and direct support to people who due to physical and/or sensory difficulty and/or mental health require support in the community of Ayr and surrounding areas.

The office base is currently located in Wellington Square in Ayr.

The Registered Manager of the service is supported by Team Leaders and will be mentored by the service Operational Manager as they undertake a structured induction, as well as having access to a wide range of training and development resources. Homelife Ayr is an established service with a large footprint within South Ayrshire and we are looking for a skilled and motivated individual to develop the service further.

This role offers excellent career development potential and the opportunity to join an experienced team of professionals who will support the successful candidate to become established in the role of Registered Manager of the service and to deliver on the services core objectives.

There are two parts to manager qualification requirements. You must have a practice and a management qualification. The main qualifications are below.

Qualifications required are:

  • SVQ Social Services and Healthcare SCQF Level 9
  • An award in management that is certificated at or above SCQF Level 9* (min 60 credits) and mapped against the National Occupational Standards: Leadership and Management for Care Services SCQF 10

The Digital Financial Inclusion Officer is a new post which will support social research and the co-creation of training and development materials with a view to embedding a Digital Financial Literacy Programme for adults with a learning disability.

A key priority for the role will be to engage people with a learning disability and the people who provide them with support, to ensure that they are fully involved in shaping how digital technology is currently used in day-to-day financial transactions and banking. Reporting to a Programme Board, the post-holder will be tasked with considering how new digital approaches can play a transformative role for individuals, whilst developing a learning needs analysis around financial literacy in a digital landscape.

This role is hosted by Quarriers but works to a Partnership Board that includes the Scottish Commission for People with Learning Disabilities (SCLD), the Scottish Government, and the Fraser of Allander Institute.

We are looking for a self-starter with an understanding of the importance of social research in shaping policy and delivering practical improvements in people’s lives. Ideally, candidates will have experience of facilitating conversations with people with learning disabilities and have managed previous research projects. The role is initially funded for one year.

The role includes the opportunity:

  • To work with senior colleagues across the partner organisations to develop and implement a project delivery plan
  • To help shape our understanding of the practical challenges that people with learning disabilities face in managing their personal finances
  • To co-create with disabled people the practical tools and resources required to manage their personal finances in the digital age

The successful candidate must have a full current driving licence and access to own transport.
