To support collective advocacy where groups of local people with learning disabilities meet together, discuss issues from their own lives and the lives of other people who have learning disabilities. Workers facilitate members’ support of each other and work with groups and individual members to consider and develop suggestions, solutions and demands. Ideas and issues are brought by member representatives to those who control services, policy and law to tackle the inequalities and discrimination that members face and to bring about improvements in the life experience of people with learning disabilities in Scotland.
To support collective advocacy for citizens with learning disabilities who are living as patients within three hospital settings. Meeting with and supporting those citizens to meet together, (all activity will be in accordance with appropriate government restrictions regarding COVID19).
Encouraging and supporting discussion of issues from their own lives and the lives of other people who have learning disabilities. The worker will facilitate members’ support of each other and work with groups and individual members to consider and develop suggestions, solutions and demands. The worker will support member representatives to bring ideas and issues to the attention of those who control services as well as those who develop policy and law. All activity tackles the inequalities and discrimination that members face and is designed to bring about improvements in the life experience of people with learning disabilities in Scotland.
