We have a full time post (35 hours per week) vacancy for an experienced support worker within our team to deliver individual and group work support to children and young people. We are looking for enthusiastic feminists who share our core values. You will be expected to demonstrate a gender-based and trauma-informed approach to service delivery and will be expected to take a multi-agency approach to your work.

Candidates ideally have a minimum of 2 years work experience within the violence against women or similar field. Membership of the PVG scheme is an essential requirement and you should be qualified to a minimum of SVQ 3 in children’s care, learning and development.

This post is available on a fixed term until 30th September 2021 with possible extension.

Travel across East Lothian and Midlothian is required therefore a full current driving licence and constant access to a car is essential.

Housing First Support Worker

We have 1 x full time (35 hours per week) vacancies for an experienced support worker within our team on an exciting new project in partnership with East Lothian Council and East Lothian Housing Association. The postholder will provide intensive housing support work to women subjected to domestic abuse who are also dealing with addiction and/or mental ill health. We are looking for enthusiastic feminists who share our core values. You will be expected to demonstrate a gender-based and trauma-informed approach to service delivery and will be expected to take a multi-agency approach to your work.

Candidate ideally have a minimum of 2 years work experience within the violence against women or housing/homelessness field. Membership of the PVG scheme is an essential requirement and you should be qualified to meet requirements of SSSC Housing Support Worker registration.

This post is available on a fixed term until 31st March 2023, extension of this role will be reliant on securing continued funding.

We have a vacancy for an experienced domestic abuse support worker. You will work using a feminist, multi-agency and trauma informed approach.

This role will be focused on working with women who are at the highest risk by undertaking the core functions of the Safe Lives Independent Domestic Abuse Advisor (IDAA) role. You will be required to work within the multi-agency risk assessment conference (MARAC) framework providing short to medium crisis intervention, for up to 12 weeks; the main aim being to work with women and partner agencies to reduce risks faced by women and children, and advocate on their behalf.

Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years work experience. Membership of the PVG scheme is an essential requirement and you should be qualified to a minimum of SVQ 3 in Health and Social Care.

Women’s Aid East and Midlothian (WAEML) aims to empower women until all women, children and young people are free and safe from domestic abuse. We are currently seeking two new volunteer trustees to join our board of directors as we enter an exciting new phase of growth and development.

We’re looking for creative and innovative feminists who can add to the skills mix of our current trustees, share our core values, have a passion for women’s and children’s rights and uphold our commitment to equality, inclusion and opportunity for all.

We particularly welcome women who can demonstrate experience any of the following areas:

• Lived experience of domestic abuse and have accessed the services of WAEML

• Organisational leadership and development

• Business development, social enterprise

• Law

• Property management

We always welcome the opportunity to increase the diversity of our Board and particularly welcome applications from women in black and ethnic minority, and /or disability communities.

Chair – our Chairwoman ended her term in December 2021 and we have appointed an interim Chair from our Trustee group. We are keen to review this position and would welcome hearing from women who may be specifically interested in this role. The Chairwoman is an ambassador role and she leads and facilitates the Board to ensure it fulfils its responsibilities for the governance of the organisation and provides support to the CEO.
