Outdoor Shed Supervisor

LEAP is a well-established charity within South Lanarkshire.

This new role will involve developing an Outdoor Shed within the community growing space at 56 Hamilton Road, enabling volunteers to actively participate in woodwork, DIY and repair activities that support the wider community. You will share your skills and experience to assist participants to carry out individual or community projects using group work as a way to improve mental health and wellbeing of participants and creating items such as planters and benches that can be enjoyed by the wider community and in support of our community partners.

A successful candidate will:

  • Have a passion for activities that benefit our communities
  • Have experience of working in an education or community setting, ideally having experience of working with volunteers in/with the public and/or third sector
  • Have sound DIY and woodworking skills.
  • Be able to make decisions and work on your own initiative
  • Have experience of promoting a service within a local community and engaging effectively with key partners and stakeholders, whilst developing an effective network of contacts
  • Be able to evaluate the service levels achieved to ensure key milestones are met
  • Have sound communication skills
  • Be organised with excellent attention to detail and an ability to work flexibly with the rest of the team
  • Be required to act on your own initiative
  • Ideally have a clean driving licence.

Social Enterprise Development Officer

LEAP is a well-established charity within South Lanarkshire, which is now planning to establish itself within East Dunbartonshire.

The main focus for this project will be to identify Social Enterprise opportunities within East Dunbartonshire. You will be responsible for identifying existing services and contacts and then identifying opportunities to develop a range of community learning activities and events with an aim of developing sustainable income. You will also be responsible for developing opportunities within the project, to ensure the overall strategic targets and goals are delivered for the project.

A successful candidate will ideally have:

  • A proven track record of working in an education or community setting, ideally having experience of working with volunteers in/with the public and/or third sector.
  • Experience of co-ordinating project coordination.
  • Outstanding communication, relationship building and networking skills.
  • Good time management skills, and the ability to manage a diverse workload and prioritise effectively so that deadlines are met.
  • The ability to travel independently across the area of service, ideally have a clean driving licence and your own car.
  • Good knowledge of the East Dunbartonshire area.
  • The ability to make decisions and work on your own initiative
  • Experience of promoting a service within a local community and engaging effectively with key partners and stakeholders, whilst developing an effective network of contacts
  • The ability to evaluate the service levels achieved to ensure key milestones are met
  • Effective administrative skills, and a good standard of IT skills, including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Access or other databases, and internet.

Outdoor Activities Co-ordinator

LEAP is a well-established charity within South Lanarkshire. This new role will involve representing LEAP whilst working in partnership with Grow 73 and the wider Greening Camglen Network to improve and increase outdoor activities available within the Cambuslang and Rutherglen communities in support of better mental health and wellbeing.

This will involve consulting with key partners, communities and individuals to map existing services, identify gaps and work together to improve mental health and well-being through a joined-up approach to being active outdoors in our community. You will work towards increasing volunteer participation and community involvement and will develop future opportunities alongside partners and stakeholders.

You will also be responsible for developing a brand-new pilot project which matches keen gardeners and growers with the gardens of older residents who no longer have the capacity to maintain or grow in the garden space.

Volunteer Development Officer

The LEAP organisation is a well-established charity which provides free practical assistance to people over the age of 50. This includes one to one and group befriending. We are looking to recruit a volunteer development officer to help deliver this service.

The volunteer development officer will be responsible for recruiting, training, support and supervision of volunteers for the delivery of LEAP’s Befriending project in South Lanarkshire.

The post holder will be required to ensure that an adequate supply of trained volunteers are available to meet the needs of the befriending services and the older people that use the service.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • Sound knowledge and understanding of volunteering issues at an operational level including working with volunteer policies and procedures.
  • Excellent inter-personal skills, including good listening skills and the ability to influence and motivate volunteers and the public with, enthusiasm and a positive, outgoing attitude.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Outstanding communication, relationship building and networking skills.
  • An understanding of equality and diversity issues, and a commitment to putting equality principles into practice.

Adult Education Co-ordinator

The LEAP organisation is a well-established charity which provides free practical assistance to people over the age of 50. We also provide a Leisure and Learning Programme to this group which covers a diverse range of areas as New Age Kurling, singing groups, Tai Chi, languages and IT.

We are looking to recruit a coordinator who will be responsible for developing and managing a range of adult education and wellbeing opportunities, aimed at connecting older people and minimising loneliness and isolation.

The role will also be responsible for developing the project strategically ensuring that the project meets its targets and goals.

A successful candidate will:

  • Have a passion for achieving high levels of client service
  • Have a proven track record of working in an education or community setting, ideally having experience of working with volunteers in/with the public and/or third sector
  • Have experience of coordinating project coordination
