Home-Start West Lothian is a charity offering support, friendship and practical help to parents with young children living in West Lothian. Families with children under five years old can sometimes find life difficult and stressful. We recruit and train volunteers to visit such families in their own homes, usually on a weekly basis, and offer non-judgemental practical and emotional support.  This support helps to build the family’s confidence and ability to cope. Home Start West Lothian is a scheme within Home Start UK – the UK’s largest family support organisation.

Finance Officer

Home-Start West Lothian is a volunteer-led charity with over 24 years-experience working in local communities, supporting families with a child under 5 in the home and group work support. Due to a retirement we are now looking to welcome a part-time Finance Officer for 14 hours per week to join our team.

This role will be responsible for general office duties and will work alongside the Operational Manager and the Chief Executive. The post-holder will work with the team to ensure that our services are well run and of a high quality. The Finance Office is responsible for overseeing the effective running of all finance activities for Home-Start West Lothian including the day to day financial tasks, monthly reporting and supporting the annual accounts process.

We are open to flexible working patterns.

We are also recruiting for an Administrator and would consider one applicant working full time (35 hours) for both the Administrator and Finance Officer roles.

Tasks will include responsibility for general correspondence, office duties such as stationery orders, supporting tasks such as recruitment and other general administration. Working with all other members of the team to ensure good safeguarding practice in all aspects of the scheme’s work.

Top job! Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to join our team on an initial 9-month fixed term part-time contract to support a strategic review and audit of the Scheme. The role will be supported by the Board of Trustees with line management responsibilities to the Operations Manager and Office Manager.

An audit and review of the organisational structure and strategic direction of the Scheme will be the priority of this role during the fixed term contract.

This is a new position joining an organisation during a period of organisational change. As the CEO, reporting to the Board of Trustees you will be responsible for the strategic direction and financial sustainability of the organisation, whilst ensuring that high standards are delivered throughout the Scheme.

Experience of working in a Senior Management position, together with a good standard of education, SVQ 4 or equivalent is required.

At the heart of Home-Start West Lothian’s work is home visiting volunteer support.

The role is hybrid with the opportunity for the successful applicant to work up to 50% of their time from home or alternative location. You must live within commuting distance of the office in Livingston.

Family Support Coordinator

Home-Start West Lothian is a voluntary organisation committed to promoting the welfare of families with at least one child under five years of age.

We are recruiting a Family Support Coordinator (who will be responsible to the Scheme Manager) who will be supporting local families by conducting needs assessments, signposting and introducing families to appropriate support within their community ensuring all the key needs of the families are met.

The role will involve the supervising, recruitment, training and support a team of volunteers. Our volunteers offer regular support, friendship and practical help to families in their own homes, helping to prevent family crisis and breakdown.

The Family Support Coordinator will assist in all aspects of Home-Start’s work. Qualifications and experience of working with children and families is essential, together with a good standard of education (HND Level 8 or equivalent). The role will require sensitivity and excellent communication and organisation skills. Use of your own car (expenses paid) is necessary. An enhanced disclosure check will be required.

You should understand and be committed to the role of the voluntary sector and be able to work on your own initiative and in a challenging environment.
