Glasgow Disability Alliance is a dynamic and well-established disabled peoples’ organisation, run for disabled people, by disabled people and with over 5000 disabled members. We have resources from Scottish Government, Big Lottery, Glasgow Health & Social Care Partnership and Glasgow City Council to support our work including a much needed Welfare Rights Project “Rights Now”.

Rights Now provides vital income maximisation services to disabled people in Glasgow and offers a uniquely accessible welfare benefit advice and representation service. Individuals are supported throughout all stages of the benefit claim process: from application to appeal.

We are looking for a confident, flexible and multi skilled individual who is proactive, collaborative and an excellent communicator. The successful candidate will join GDA at an exciting and dynamic time and alongside another experienced Welfare Rights Officer, will co-ordinate and deliver the welfare rights advice service to maximise income of disabled people across Glasgow.

The main role of the WRO is to provide independent welfare benefits information, advice and representation to disabled people via face-to-face, over the phone, during home visits and through outreach in the community.

The post holder will be dedicated, skilled and enthusiastic, committed to human rights, with experience of welfare benefits and advice services as well an understanding of community led approaches and issues affecting disabled people.
