Family Journeys helps children and their families following separation and divorce. We are committed to developing a children rights-based approach in which we listen to and support children, and help parents as they move forward after separation (following divorce or other changes in family life).
If you have skills in youth work, children’s work or family support, consider joining our new and dynamic team as we develop and shape the services and experiences that children and parents need. We are interested in practitioners with a background in therapeutic approaches for children and parents.
We are facing a high demand for our services post-covid and a backlog of families whose services were interrupted during 2020. As we re-open our venues and services, our small team needs help to manage our cases and capacity, ensuring clients' journey from referral through assessment and into services is monitored, and that we are making best use of appointments and venue spaces. We need a highly organised person, with strong IT skills, to help us with logistics. Using our case management system and scheduling apps, communication with team members (all of whom are part-time) and service managers, you will help us to make clients' experience more efficient, whilst at the same time helping us to ensure prompt billing.
Nature Family Contact Club in Family Journeys
Family Journeys is developing an exciting new project helping children whose families are separated to maintain relationships with their non-resident parent, using nature and outdoor play. This is a short-term funded project (Inspiring Scotland Organised Outdoor Play Fund) helping us to evaluate the potential of this approach. You will deliver weekend outdoor play sessions in four locations around the Lothians enabling families to access this opportunity locally.
We are looking for a creative individual confident to work in the outdoors facilitating children’s free play, helping their parents engage and have fun with them, whilst co-ordinating safe contact through communication with both parents and case managers.
Driving license and access to a vehicle essential.

We are developing a project helping Family Journeys to put children's rights at the heart of everything we do, with young people and children working to share their views and experiences through peer support.
Family Journeys helps families affected by separation and divorce. We have been awarded funding to develop our approach to young people's participation and leadership, and their engagement of children who have been affected by separation. We aim to establish groups around Edinburgh and the Lothians for young people and children whose parents access our services or who may be our clients in their own right.
This is a new role and a new approach in family mediation and child contact services. We are looking for a confident, well organised individual who can think creatively, plan strategically, and engage with young people to inspire and support them to work with us.
Family Journeys is in an exciting phase of development, working to address the needs of children and their families after separation. We provide a range of services to children and their parents, and we are committed to involving them in all we do.
We are recruiting a new CEO who will provide leadership to a small team managing our mediation and family connections services.
Our organisation provides services online and in three locations throughout the Lothians. Whilst we are facing significant post-Covid demand, we are also excited to be innovating in new approaches to services to families, in externally funded projects.
Our small and enthusiastic team of skilled and committed people, along with our Board of Directors, are looking for a CEO who can think strategically, direct operations and provide a positive and supportive environment for staff.
Informal enquiries are welcome to learn more about the role and our approach, to ruth@familyjourneys.scot (20th-25th September)
