Edinburgh Voluntary Organisations’ Council’s (EVOC) purpose is to support, promote, develop and represent the Third Sector. We play a key role in supporting pioneering, new and innovative ways of working for Third Sector organisations and community groups that work in Edinburgh. EVOC actively promotes, participates in and contributes to partnership working between the voluntary, public, private and community sectors at a local and national level.

Development Worker (Walking & Active Travel)

If you like the sound of the above, then Edinburgh Voluntary Organisations’ Council (EVOC) is looking to recruit a part-time Development Worker (Walking & Active Travel).

This interesting new programme has two related aims: firstly, to support an Edinburgh-wide “Health Walk Coordinator” post to strategically join-up and further develop a local network of Health Walks, delivered by a diverse range of voluntary and community organisations. Secondly, the work will deliver in-depth research to inform the trialling of ideas and incentives to change travel behaviour toward active travel options and bring people from across Edinburgh’s voluntary sector together to share findings.

The Development Worker shall contribute to the development and delivery of the first phase of a multi-disciplinary, mixed model of preventative health, early intervention, social support and reablement which will integrate elements of the Community Led Support and Asset Based Community Development models to identify and deliver a number of test sites across Edinburgh. These sites will provide the opportunity for voluntary, independent and statutory sector services to come together to deliver the aspirations of the incoming Edinburgh Health and Social Care Partnership Strategic Plan.

Senior Development Officer (Recovery Community)

We are recruiting for this senior post to lead the further development and delivery of the Edinburgh Recovery Activities (ERA) programme – supporting and collaborating with the addictions recovery community in Edinburgh. Working closely with Edinburgh Alcohol & Drug Partnership (EADP), the postholder will also develop the necessary structures to provide a basis for the commissioning of this service in the longer term with an external voluntary sector provider. A good understanding of community development and the addictions recovery community is essential.
