About the role

Due to contract growth, we have an exciting opportunity for an Advocate in Fife, to deliver and develop Social Security Scotland Advocacy. This is a permanent role, working full time, 35 hours a week.

Your role will be home based for telephone referrals and administrative tasks, and you will travel around your area to meet the demands of the service which includes networking with providers for signposting opportunities. Some areas may include remote locations without easy access to public transport; therefore, access to other forms of transport may be required. This could be in a client’s own homes and other suitable community venues across the Fife and occasionally the Dundee area.

About You

We are ready to support candidates to achieve excellent Advocacy Standards and gain advocacy experience.

You may have some experience of working, supporting, or caring for Adults or young people who have multiple support need, ideally for those with a variety of communication needs, mental ill health, physical health issues, or barriers to accessing education, training, benefits, employment, care and support.

You might have worked or volunteered in customer service, health, social care, education or young person’s services, or advice and guidance.

How will you make a difference?

You will be responsible for ensuring the individual’s wishes, feelings, beliefs, needs, and values are met to create positive outcomes for the people you support.

You will support people to speak up for themselves and grow in confidence, equip them to understand and exercise their rights and options, and will assist them in the decision-making process relating to accessing Scotland’s social security services.

You will work resourcefully and collaboratively with the individuals you support. You’ll be creative in your approach to empowerment by ensuring you meaningfully explain people’s options and rights to them. You’ll support individuals to fully participate in decisions affecting them and will make sure they have their voices heard.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Volunteer Coordinator to join our team to support us on the delivery and development of a unique new contract in Scotland, Scottish Social Security Advocacy. This is a permanent role, working full time, 35 hours a week. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, you will be passionate and committed to developing a robust volunteer service in Scotland that supports advocacy delivery.

What will you do?

• Drive the inclusion of volunteers within the Scottish Social Security Advocacy contract to meet our organisations exacting standards

• Develop and deliver a volunteer programme, that supports advocacy delivery and meets the needs of people accessing this service.

• Lead on the development of a safe recruitment, training, and support structure for volunteers

• Utilize volunteers’ skills and experiences that demonstrates our values and meets the SLA.

• Provide supervision and wellbeing checks to volunteers to nurture resilience and personal development

• Ensure a culture of continuous improvement and development for our volunteers to support retention, investment, and organisational goals.

• Encourage and implement innovation, leading to improved service and business performance.

• Share learning with colleagues across the organisation and to build effective relationships with key stakeholders and other volunteer organisations, to maintain VoiceAbility’s presence in the voluntary sector.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a strong leader who is passionate about and recognises the added value that volunteers can bring to an organisation. You will have the ability to manage and train volunteers from diverse backgrounds with varied life experiences, ensuring that an environment of safe practise and support is embedded within volunteer practise and standards.

You will be confident in driving the volunteer agenda within the organisation and in raising its profile with commissioners and other key organisations/professionals. You will operate effectively and efficiently to meet budget requirements and work alongside the Operations Manager to address any issues, concerns, or areas for financial improvement. You will demonstrate an effective marketing profile and lead on identifying potential areas for volunteer growth within the area.

We have an opportunity for a Contracts Manager to join our team in Scotland at the start of our exciting new contract, to deliver and develop Social Security Scotland Advocacy. This is a permanent role, working full time, 35 hours a week. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, you will be a passionate supporter of quality driven provision and responsible for producing and analysing complex data/reports, to ensure contracts are delivering to their KPIs, regional objectives and targets.

What will you do?

• Drive the Scottish Social Security Advocacy contract to meet our organisations exacting standards

• Deliver excellent customer relationship management working in partnership with commissioners and the organisations management matrix

• Support the management team with productivity data to enable them to monitor, evaluate and review ER KPIs to sustain compliance, capabilities to improve advocacy practice.

• Report on financial performance of contracts to support effective use of resources to attain minimal operating costs and maximum delivery hours.

• Appraise commissioners on contract delivery and identify solutions for identified challenges

• Ensure a culture of continuous performance improvement through the monitoring of contractual KPIS, to inform improvements to service delivery

• Analyse delivery targets in line with national expectations and appropriately respond to identified under/over performance.

• Inform the business development of the organisation by identifying potential growth opportunities in existing contracts.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a competent and experienced individual, with the ability to understand all aspects of contract performance and fulfilment. You will be confident in managing stakeholder relationships at all levels, with the ability to evidence, via complex data analysis, contractual performance against agreed SLAs. Where underperformance is found, you will support the management team to resolve these against compliance/quality measures.

You will demonstrate excellent financial, literacy/numeracy skills and can produce comprehensive commissioner reports on a reporting cycle, that evidences optimal outcomes, quality practise standards and financial performance. We are looking for someone who can balance the retention of existing contracts whilst being confident in identifying and driving new opportunities for growth.

This is a permanent role, working full time, 35 hours a week. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, you will be a passionate supporter of quality driven provision and in coaching others to achieve the same exacting standards of excellence in advocacy delivery.

What will you do?

• Drive the Scottish Social Security Advocacy contract to meet our organisations exacting standards

• Lead and directly manage a team of advocates

• Deliver a quality service where advocates are directed to deliver highest levels of performance against practice requirements and continuing professional development.

• Make performance decisions to move individuals through appropriate informal and formal capability and conduct processes, up to final written warning

• To meet on a regular cycle with Operations manager to review contract delivery through provision of accurate data and analysis of up-to-date practice

• To liaise with Contract Managers to ensure that notification of practice issues noted in KPIs are raised and dealt with at the appropriate level

• Ensure a culture of continuous performance improvement and staff development within your area of responsibility and team with clear objectives and regular supervisions in line with VoiceAbility’s performance management framework

• Actively work with Practice Management team to interpret practice and quality data to inform better advocacy by making informed decisions of what works well, ensuring that the highest standards of advocacy are achieved

• Develop and maintain productive relationships with Stakeholders, commissioners and other organisations and sector leads to support the organisation’s potential for growth in Scotland.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a strong and resilient leader and coach with a proven track record in delivering high quality advocacy or equivalent discipline. You will be committed to driving high performance and practice standards, with the confidence to support members of your team who are underperforming. You will be experienced in managing risks relating to the safety and wellbeing of staff members and the safeguarding of service users. You will be a clear decision maker who can learn from reflective practice and has the skills to interpret operational data, reports and outcomes and translate into improved or consistent practice of others in the team.

Full time Advocates will work 35 hours a week, between Monday & Friday 9.00am -5.00pm. The posts are permanent contracts with a salary between £21,000- £28,000 per annum.
