The role of Development Manager is to work with the Board of Trustees and staff of Thurso Community Development Trust on the design, development and delivery of multiple projects operated by the Charity as outlined in the Strategic Plan to make Thurso a better place to live, work and visit. The role of Development Manager is central to the organisation developing projects for onward operational delivery by staff and representing Thurso Community Development Trust with key stakeholders. The Trust is a forward thinking and proactive organisation with ambitions towards further community ownership of assets in the community including a Community Hub and taking an enterprising yet evidence led approach to sustainable community development.
The North Highlands and Islands Climate Hub is recruiting a Full Time Development Officer based within the Highland Council region. You’ll work from home and travel throughout Highland as required.
The North Highlands & Islands Climate Hub is fully funded by the Scottish Government and is one of a network which will be established across Scotland to offer networking, support and encouragement of community led climate action. The vision for the Hub is to support and empower communities to develop local solutions to make the transition to net zero and climate resilient living through empowerment and capacity building in communities throughout the region. The Hub has been operating since September 2021 as a pathfinder project and has now secured up to 3 years funding from the Scottish Government. Thurso Community Development Trust are the current operators of the Hub and it recently moved to being its own Community Interest Company, North Highlands & Islands Climate Hub CIC where a membership will be built throughout the region to support onward governance.
The role of Development Officer will be to contribute towards the delivery of the North Highlands & Islands Climate Hub CIC successfully for the Scottish Government supported by the Project Manager and Climate Hub team. The role will support communities throughout the region to collaborate, network and assist community groups in design, development and delivery of community led climate action projects. This may involve signposting to local TSI’s for governance support, to other support services and additional climate action themed organisations. A degree of knowledge of the various structures, organisations and mechanisms within the third and community sector are therefore required.
The Highlands and Islands Climate Hub is expanding to cover the South West Highlands and as such, they’re recruiting a Senior Development Officer to join their team
The role of the Senior Development Officer, South West Highland will be as a key strategic member of staff working with the Senior team and Project Manager to drive forward and support the delivery of the Hub’s core functions. The role will contribute towards the Hub’s aims of supporting and empowering community led climate action in communities throughout the Highlands & Islands and support initiatives of climate action within the Highlands and Islands. The role is senior and strategic and as such the postholder will be expected to operate at a management level taking responsibility for staff, initiatives and being a key contact within networks and partnerships.
