Job Purpose
The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for providing support to the Governance & People Lead by optimising all aspects of the volunteer experience within Empty Kitchens Full Hearts.
Location
Based in Granton, Edinburgh, working on a flexible hybrid basis. Requiring occasional attendance at events - such as recruitment fair and partnership events, and off-site meetings as required.
Duration
This is a funded role with a fixed 2 year term subject to review.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Executive - Governance & People, leading the Volunteer Services volunteers and liaising with our Department Heads, to recruit, train and develop our volunteers, delivering a great volunteer experience throughout.

Empty Kitchens Full Hearts are seeking three new trustees with expertise in food security and fundraising to broaden and strengthen the skill set of the Board.
Empty Kitchens Full Hearts was set up by chefs in 2020 as a pandemic response. Now with newly acquired SCIO status, new premises in Granton, and over 250 active volunteers, we continue to deliver 6000 meals per week to people in need across Edinburgh.
Empty Kitchens Full Hearts is keen to develop from its pandemic foundations into a key partner in the network of organisations in Edinburgh supporting those in need, developing resilience and signposting routes out of poverty and food dependency.
We are seeking applications from committed individuals with expertise and skills in the following areas: fundraising, strategic charity finance, food security and social provision.
Empty Kitchens Full Hearts is a membership organisation with membership open to all volunteers. Trustees meet as a Board quarterly and in addition are expected to attend Members meetings twice a year. There are three founding trustees and this recruitment is to co-opt additional Trustees with specific skills and background to help grow the organisation.
This is a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about tackling the problems facing some of the most vulnerable and marginalised in Edinburgh, to work with a committed executive team, staff & volunteers to help build a progressive, resilient organisation, in tune with their needs.

Empty Kitchens Full Hearts is a charity that turns surplus food into nourishing meals for people that need them, free of charge and without judgement. We provide food support and provide informed signposting to support services in order to help people manage or overcome the effects of negative life experiences (including trauma, mental health challenges, poverty and inequality) so that they can build on their strengths and aspirations.

The Role
Are you passionate about helping people to food security?
Taking a person-centred approach, you will work with individuals to enable them to identify personal outcomes and priorities for their health and well-being and link them to local, city and national activities and support services.
The postholder must have experience of working with people who are facing complex social and emotional circumstances, a strong understanding of the challenges affecting people living in areas of disadvantage in relation to living well, extensive effective interpersonal skills in working with people on a 1:1 basis as well as experience in networking and relationship building with other professionals and organisations.

Empty Kitchens, Full Hearts (EKFH) turns surplus food into nourishing meals and delivers them to those without safe access to food. Since April 2020, we have cooked, packed and provided over 1.3 million meals throughout Edinburgh to people that are in need of food support. Our donors, volunteers and staff work really hard to make sure people in our communities don’t go to bed hungry.
