Programme Manager: Scotland

  • Full time
  • £30,000 – £35,000
  • Home-based in Scotland, able to travel to Glasgow & Edinburgh regularly as lockdown lifts.
  • Closing 20th August 2021

Generation will be starting operations in Scotland in early 2022.

This is a new country and region of operation for us and we are looking for a Programme Manager to launch programmes initially across Glasgow & Edinburgh. This is a high-impact and hands-on role, and would suit someone who is entrepreneurial and very comfortable working under their own steam.

You’ll be raising awareness of Generation in Scotland, forging our first relationships with local partners, engaging with young people and learners, and will be responsible for ensuring that our first cohorts launch successfully, on time at full capacity. Working under the Director of Admissions as part of an international Admissions team, this is a great opportunity to develop a wide range of skills in a meaningful way. You will draw on the expertise and support of colleagues in other regions, but will only be one other staff member in Scotland.

This is a full time role, home-based in Scotland, able to travel to Glasgow & Edinburgh regularly as lockdown lifts.

Generation's mission is to train, coach and support people into life-changing careers that would otherwise be inaccessible.

We are a UK registered charity, founded by McKinsey & Company, delivering tailored programmes to recruit, train and place unemployed people into work. Through our unique approach we also solve a wide range of employer challenges—skilled talent shortages, poor job performance, lack of diversity, and high turnover.

Generation launched globally in 2015 and has grown quickly to become the world’s largest demand-led employment initiative. We have placed over 40,000 people into roles (many of whom have suffered some form of adversity), working with over 2,000 employer partners to date across 14 countries and 26 professions.

Generation UK&I is currently running training to employment programmes in the West Midlands, London, Manchester, Dublin and Leeds and will be launching our first bootcamps in Scotland in 2022. We run a range of tech bootcamps with partners including The Prince’s Trust, Amazon Web Services, Multiverse and Infinity Works, as well as programmes supporting people into healthcare and customer service roles. In addition we provide lighter touch career support for people looking to find work but who don't have a specific profession in mind.

In 2020, the coronavirus pandemic transformed the employment landscape beyond recognition, with young people (the majority of the people we help) being the hardest hit. At the same time, the Black Lives Matter movement has rightfully brought issues of social injustice and racism to the top of every agenda.

By joining Generation UK&I now, you will become part of an organisation which is determined to play its part in addressing both of these challenges for people in the UK and Ireland over the coming months and years.
