Community Action Lanarkshire offer support for rural communities across rural North and South Lanarkshire with community-led action plans and to build and grow projects. Our vision is that community decisions will be made for each place, in that place, by the people who live there. Communities will work together towards a common purpose, where the focus is on local people-led action. The programme will build your community’s ability to develop, fund and deliver projects to improve local lives for generations to come. Community Action Lanarkshire is funded by Lanarkshire LEADER until 2020 and managed by the Rural Development Trust. The Community Action Lanarkshire area includes the North Lanarkshire communities of Shotts, Allanton, Harthill, Plains, Caldercruix, Upperton, Longriggend and Greengairs, as well as the South Lanarkshire communities of Leadhills, Crawford, Abington, Glespin, Douglas, Rigside, Crawfordjohn, Forth, Lesmahagow, Kirkfieldbank, Blackwood, Kirkmuirhill, Stonehouse, Sandford, Carstairs Junction, Tarbrax and Woolfords.

Community Action Lanarkshire (CAL – is a project supported by the Rural Development Trust (RDT) and funded by Lanarkshire LEADER until June 2020. Established in 2004 the Rural Development Trust is a charity and company limited by guarantee with a strong track record in developing and delivering projects which tackle rural issues. The Rural Development Trust is now recruiting 1 full time & 1 part time (3 days a week) Project Workers / Officers to join the Community Action Lanarkshire team supporting rural communities deliver plans and projects that make a real difference to local people’s lives. These positions are on a fixed term basis until 30th June 2020 with the possibility of extension.
