A rare opportunity has arisen for a Head of Finance (& HR Lead) at Lowland Reserve Forces’ and Cadets’ Association (LRFCA) based in Maryhill, Glasgow.
LRFCA is an enabling organisation supporting the Reserve Forces and Cadet Organisations across the region. Funded by the Ministry of Defence, we provide a number of key functions including maintenance of properties across 137 sites. Another of our key, and expanding, functions is to provide Administrative and Logistic support to the Army Cadet Force - a vibrant national voluntary youth organisation.
The successful applicant will be an experienced finance professional with demonstrable strengths in financial planning, budgeting, internal control procedures and preparation and delivery of financial reports. A knowledge of public sector funding would be a strong advantage.
As the organisation is small (58 employees), the role also acts as HR lead for the Association. Duties include: interpretation and advising on Staff Regulations (set by the Council of RFCAs), preparation and implementation of Policy Letters, advising Line Managers on employee issues and management of the HR systems. They are also responsible for the management of a team of 6 Office staff and oversight of IT provision.

Candidates should hold (or be working towards) a recognised accountancy qualification, or relevant experience. HR experience is essential; an HR qualification would be a strong advantage.
The role equates to Civil Service C1 grade (£38623) and additional benefits include a career average (CARE) pension scheme and annual leave of 25 days plus public holidays (rising to 30 days after 5 years of service). The successful candidate will be required to be security cleared prior to appointment. This will include a Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme (PVGS) disclosure from Disclosure Scotland.
