FCSS has been created to challenge the inflexibility of current childcare provision across the country and to ensure equity of early years’ and childcare experience for all children regardless of family circumstances, location or specific needs.

To do this we have designed a trilogy of services including direct service delivery, a support package for providers adopting a more flexible model and an accreditation scheme.

We are seeking additional Trustees to join our skilled and experienced Board.

Board Trustees are responsible for the charity’s governance and strategy, and for making sure that the charity is administered effectively. They must account for its activities and outcomes.

The main responsibilities and duties of the role are:

  • To act in the interests of the charity, operating in a manner consistent with the charity’s purpose.
  • To act with care and diligence.
  • To manage any conflict of interest between the charity and any person or organisation who appoints trustees.

To comply with the 2005 Act (specific duties) relating to:

  • Maintaining charity details on the Scottish Charity Register
  • Reporting to OSCR: making changes to your charity
  • Financial records and reporting
  • Fundraising
  • Providing information to the public

To work in conjunction with fellow Trustees and the organisation’s Senior Management Team to deliver against its vision of; “Creating flexibility in early learning and childcare for all children, families and communities across Scotland.”

To be responsible, with fellow Trustees, for the overall governance and strategic direction of the SCIO, developing the organisations aims, objectives and goals in accordance with the governing document, legal and regulatory guidelines.

To develop and promote effective working relationships both within the group and with external partners, regulators and other relevant stakeholders.

Person Specification

You should have excellent communication and organisational skills and be able to demonstrate a commitment to inclusion, diversity, social justice, anti-discrimination and protecting and caring for children.

Be passionate about children’s services and driven to deliver equitable access to services for all.

Desirable

Experience in HR; Children and Families Services; Business Management, Marketing, Social Enterprise, Fundraising, Compliance or other relevant area.

Period of appointment: An initial period of three years after which you will be eligible for re-election for a further period of three years.

We are now seeking a Quality Assurance Manager to join our management team. Reporting directly to the CEO the successful applicant will provide leadership and management support to ensure continuous improvement and quality of service delivery across our 20 (and growing) services around Scotland.

The successful applicant will have excellent communication and organisational skills and be able to demonstrate a commitment to inclusion, diversity, social justice, anti-discrimination and protecting and caring for children.

This role will involve working with early years, out of school care and additional support needs groups.

The main responsibilities and duties of the role are:

  • To work in conjunction with our Service Managers to ensure highest possible service standards at all times.
  • To ensure our services are exemplar models of flexible early learning and childcare through sector leading best practice.
  • To develop and promote effective working relationships both within the group and with external partners, regulators and other relevant stakeholders.
  • To drive the quality of practice and provision through compliance with group policies and procedures, statutory frameworks and relevant legislation.

Location: As the majority of our current provision is in the Aberdeenshire area our preference is to recruit from within or near that area. Travel will be required to our services in Inverness and Dundee and to new services in other locations as the organisation grows.

Pension: You will be auto-enrolled from your start date and once the appointment has been confirmed after probation you are eligible to join the full Employer’s Pension scheme with the Pensions Trust. FCSS pays 3% of your salary and you pay a minimum of 2%. If you are already in a pension scheme, other arrangements may be possible.

Training, support and supervision: You will be inducted into the business and will be supported in your role by your line manager and our management team.

Part Time Finance Officer

To do this we have designed a trilogy of services including direct service delivery, a support package for providers adopting a more flexible model and an accreditation scheme.

To support our business operations we are seeking a Part Time Finance Officer to join our team.

The main responsibilities and duties of the role are to:

  • Ensure that financial records are accurate and up-to-date,
  • Liaise with external service providers to co-ordinate the delivery of payroll and accounting services.
  • Support operational managers and other key stakeholders by providing financial information and responding to queries.

Holidays: Annual leave entitlement is 25 days and 12 Public holidays. (pro-rata)
