Lead Practitioner Childcare

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a childcare practitioner, to be the Manager of an out of school club that offers affordable, accessible and high quality care for school age children living in the Cornton area.

The Club will start in the new school term of August 2019 and provide daily care after school between 3.15-6pm during term time.

Our aim is to provide stimulating age-appropriate play activities; provide informal learning opportunities through play; provide a safe and secure care environment for children, promoting a sense of 'place' and belonging and of being valued in a caring environment and community.

Salary will be determined by the rate appropriate to the level of qualification and hours worked in the direct provision of care, plus some time for administration and preparation.

As our lead practitioner you will:

  • Possess a BA in Childhood Practice or equivalent (or working towards), such as PDA level 9 Childhood Practice or equivalent qualifications and experience, to allow registration with SSSC as a Manager of Day care of children’s service;
  • Either eligible to be, or registered with SSSC or equivalent professional body
  • Be comfortable in a leadership role dealing with parents, staff and sharing your expertise with the parent led Board;
  • Have at least three years’ experience working with children aged 4 -12 in a group setting
  • Have experience of planning and delivering child-centred high quality activities for children in a group setting, as well as understanding of statutory requirements and best practice for childcare
  • Act as role model for and promote positive behaviour from staff and children
  • Have led, managed, appraised and developed staff
  • Demonstrate strong professional relationships and work in partnership with other groups including school and community organisations
  • Be enthusiastic with interpersonal skills including effective written and verbal communication with adults and children
  • Be organised and experienced in using a range of online applications to manage the service and finances efficiently and effectively including staff rotas, communication, service requests and invoicing
  • Awareness of current developments and good practice in out-of-school care
