ORSAS is an intersectional feminist, trauma-informed organisation with human rights at our core and these values inform everything we do. We provide free and confidential practical & emotional support and advocacy to anyone in Orkney, of any gender (age 13+), who has been affected by sexual violence at any time in their life. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in providing support to people using trauma informed support skills and have a sound knowledge of the impact of rape, sexual abuse and exploitation on survivors.

Job Purpose

  • This project runs until June 2022 and has a focus on increasing ORSAS support capacity, the accessibility of the service, and its reach, for survivors of sexual violence in Orkney, and particularly for survivors from marginalised groups.
  • The worker, in co-operation with the Trustees, Service Manager, Staff Team and Service Users at ORSAS, will develop and implement an Inclusion and Access Strategic Plan for the service.
  • As part of improving access to support and capacity for delivery, a number of service improvements have been identified and these would be led by the new worker, alongside any other actions identified by the worker herself as part of the Inclusion and Access Strategic Plan.

Project Outcomes

  • Improve access to support for survivors of sexual violence, also their family, friends, partners and professionals engaged in their support.
  • Proactively work to identify and overcome barriers to support.
  • Engage and collaborate with survivors to identify and address their needs.

Job Purpose

  • The Admin & Funding Worker will be responsible for the effective administration of the ORSAS office:
  • Being the main point of contact for the office phone, mail, email and in person enquiries
  • Ensuring systems operate to facilitate the effective communication and data retention across the organisation
  • Liaise with ORSAS Colleagues, Rape Crisis Scotland and funders re the collation and compilation of quarterly excel budget sheets, statistics, funding reports and compilation of funding applications
  • Liaise with the ORSAS bookkeeper to maintain robust financial records
  • Assist with the upkeep of the office environment and maintenance of office equipment, facilities and stationery including HR and H&S compliance
  • To prepare and take minutes for Team and Board meetings, and other key meetings as required
  • Providing administrative support to the wider RCS team as capacity allows and under direction of the Office Manager

Equality Hub & Communication Worker (Part-time)

The ideal candidate will have significant experience in communication and have a sound knowledge of the impact of rape, sexual abuse and exploitation on survivors.

Job Purpose

The Equality Hub & Communication Worker will be responsible for the effective running of the ORSAS Equality Hub, which hosts displays on the topics of feminism, equality and human rights. The Hub is a “Keep Safe” space of safety and a Third Party Hate Crime reporting Centre.

  • The worker, in co-operation with the Trustees, Service Manager, Staff team and Service Users at ORSAS, will develop and implement an Equality Hub & Communication Strategic Plan, including social media, topic displays, fundraising & promotional events
  • Integral to ORSAS’ charitable aims this post has a focus on education and prevention improving community response to survivors, reducing stigma and campaigning for the eradication of sexual violence.
  • As part of improving our communication and engagement with our remote and rural community a number of service improvements have been identified and these would be led by the worker, alongside any other actions identified by the worker herself as part of the Equality Hub and Communication Strategic Plan.
