Family Support Manager

We are looking for a Family Support Manager to work in our team in Edinburgh.

At Safe Families we exist to create relationship and connection, offering support, hope and belonging to improve the lives of those in our communities because everyone deserves to belong.

Safe Families is passionate about supporting families. We believe everyone deserves to belong and Safe Families offers compassion and connection through our incredible staff and volunteers. Many families have been struggling with mental health, particularly during the last few months of lockdown. Safe Families are expanding their work in Edinburgh to provide intensive support to around 30 families each year who are struggling with issues including anxiety and depression.

We are looking for an experienced mental health practitioner who can make a positive impact in the lives of these families over an initial two year period. You will be involved in helping to train and support volunteers who will be given specialist mental health training.

Community Volunteer Manager – Perth and Kinross

We are a Christian and community based charity that seeks to empower local volunteers, predominately from the church, to engage with those most at need. Working hand-in-hand with Children’s Services we link children, young people and families with local volunteers who can offer them help and support.

The Community Volunteer Manager (CVM) is a key staff role with responsibility for building strong relationships with local churches to help establish Safe Families as a transformational tool they can use to serve their communities.

This post will be particularly focussed on widening and deepening our relationships with faith leaders in Perth and Kinross and the surrounding areas. You will build trusting partnerships which empower, equip and encourage church leaders to further engage with vulnerable children and families in the city.

You will be part of the wider Scottish team which is a thriving, innovative team, dedicated to empowering volunteers to make a real difference.

We are a Christian and community based charity that seeks to empower local volunteers, predominately from the church, to engage with those most at need. Working hand-in-hand with Children’s Services we link children, young people and families with local volunteers who can offer them help and support.

The Family Support Manager is a key staff role which involves working with families referred by a Local Authority and facilitating support from volunteers recruited from the local church and community. Your responsibility would be to work with the team supporting families across Perth and Kinross.

You would be involved from initial referral through to official end of formal support, including risk assessment of a family’s situation, identifying goals, matching and introducing volunteers, providing on-going mentoring and support to volunteers and deciding when outcomes have been achieved. Your objective is to help support families navigate challenging circumstances through connecting them into local volunteer based, sustainable support.

The role requires experience of working with vulnerable people and groups, and knowledge and application of safeguarding principles and processes. It is an incredibly exciting role where you would have the privilege of seeing how the simplest of actions, often from dedicated volunteers, really can bring hope and transformation to families and care leavers.
