Crown Estate Scotland has an exciting opportunity for a Regional Engagement Manager to join our team on a full-time basis for a fixed term of up to 24 months.
The role holder will be responsible for managing operational and/or strategic relationships with stakeholders and communities that help Crown Estate Scotland achieve its purpose of ‘Investing in property, natural resources and people to generate lasting value for Scotland’. They will also set up and manage partnership activities and initiatives.
The role holder will also be expected to represent Crown Estate Scotland at a regional level with an emphasis on the Southern half of Scotland (for example central belt, Ayrshire, Borderlands and Clyde areas and including the Whitehill and Applegirth Estates), working with the Head of Partnerships and other colleagues across a broad range of priorities in a way that builds trust and the credibility of the organisation as a whole.

About the role
The successful candidate for this role within the organisation will assume responsibilities that include:
• Coordinating and where appropriate leading engagement with regional /local actors including local authorities, enterprise agencies, community bodies and business clusters
• Understanding regional and local development strategies, identifying, and communicating internally relevant strategic and local opportunities for Crown Estate Scotland to add value as an enabler or through specific investment projects
• Supporting local consultation for specific development projects, working closely with Crown Estate Scotland project managers and other partners
• Supporting the Head of Partnerships and wider teams in exploring and developing very early-stage investment project concepts to sufficient maturity for clear internal decision making and handover
• Working as part of the Partnerships team, and in collaboration with the wider Crown Estate Scotland and managing agent teams to share information and contacts and ensure a joined-up approach to all we do
• Taking opportunities to build Crown Estate Scotland’s reputation for delivery through productive partnerships, ensuring any stakeholder concerns are dealt with in a timely and professional way
• Advising and supporting the Executive Team and Board on regional visits and engagement with local projects
• Identifying and developing new partnership proposals, working with the Head of Partnerships, asset, or development managers, managing agents and other business leads, for the development of community and other partnership projects in line with the Corporate Plan and other plans as appropriate
• Delivering project management of key relevant partnerships, either existing or developed in future, that fall within the Partnerships function lead. This will include acting as nominated representative for CES on any local management pilot projects within the relevant region and delivering monitoring & evaluation activities where necessary
• Taking responsibility for advising and communicating with partners regarding practical and operational aspects of partnership initiatives as required
• Responding to incoming enquiries in an effective and timely manner, managing issues and reputational risks including any perceived / potential conflicts of interest
• Supporting the development of collaborative partnerships flagging any requirement for new approaches where needed and be an effective ambassador for Crown Estate Scotland
• Attending local and regional meetings relevant to the role as our eyes, ears, and voice, building Crown Estate Scotland’s profile and enhancing our relationships and trust in the organisation
• Working with the Head of Partnerships and relevant asset teams to plan and engage in periodic meetings with tenants, partners, and stakeholders to build positive relationships and understand stakeholder issues and perspectives within your target region and/ or sectors designed to achieve demonstrable outcomes contributing to delivery of relevant corporate targets
• Attending wider representational meetings and events as required, making contributions and presentations to a high standard as required

The salary will be £41,321.18 with potential for future progression and annual cost of living rises. The maximum salary for this role is currently £49,440.67. This role offers participation in the Civil Service pension scheme. About You
You should:
• Be educated to undergraduate degree level or equivalent in a subject relevant to Crown Estate Scotland’s business areas and / or community development
• Have experience of working with communities on matters relevant to the Scottish Crown Estate in the southern Scotland region such as rural land use, energy, built development, river salmon fishing, coastal or maritime
• Ideally have some experience of preparing or reviewing business plans in relevant sectors such as built development or coastal communities
• Be articulate and have highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with political acumen and awareness
• Hold some knowledge of good governance and risk management processes
• Have broad knowledge and awareness covering a range of Crown Estate Scotland’s areas of business, as well as its statutory obligations
• Be experienced and knowledgeable in commercial estate, property, or marine management, ideally with emphasis or expertise in one or more of Crown Estate Scotland’s business sectors
• Have project management skills, with appropriate knowledge and experience of delivering projects in accordance with project management principles
• Have experience of working in collaborative project environments including both internal team members and external partners to deliver mutually successful outcomes
• Have awareness of terrestrial and/ or offshore planning, development, policy, and legal contexts
• Have excellent writing skills and the ability to identify key points on any issue and translate these into clear, succinct messages
• Have an understanding of monitoring and evaluation
• Be numerate and a competent user of Microsoft Office suite
