Who are we looking for?

Are you passionate about creating a better future for disabled children? Are you a natural leader who thrives on developing young people and ensuring they can participate and drive their own lives? Then join us in this key role of Trainer /Facilitator.

Whizz-Kidz is a national children’s charity with a mission to transform the lives of disabled children and young people. We work to change these young lives by providing the vital equipment, support and life skills they need. At Whizz-Kidz, we believe that every young disabled person has the right to a fun and active childhood, and the chance to develop their full potential in life. We give them opportunities to build friendships and have fun, and training to help them gain skills to achieve independence and look forward to a bright future.

As an ad hoc Trainer / Facilitator, you will have direct experience of working with disabled young people and you will work collaboratively with the Care & Services Delivery Manager and the Club Co-ordinator in Scotland to deliver our clubs and wheelchair skills training.

Your challenge: In a nutshell, we want you to bring Whizz-Kidz’ innovative and life-changing services to many more young people through our Clubs and potentially Wheelchair Skills Training. You’ll take the lead and facilitate these innovative youth clubs and training sessions – ensuring that young disabled people are empowered with the confidence to enjoy a full childhood. You will have a methodical and young person-centred approach to removing barriers so that youngsters can participate fully in a programme. You will have experience of conducting accessibility audits and risk assessments, and will undertake face-to-face briefings and deliver wheelchair skills training sessions (training will be provided).

Hours: As needed, discussed with local Care & Services Delivery Manager. As a guide, Clubs take place once a month on Saturdays. It is expected that the post holder would facilitate one club per month, a minimum of nine times a year. There will also be the possibility of extra days training on weekdays and/or weekends delivering Whizz-Kidz Wheelchair Training Skills sessions
