The Scottish Association of Social Work (SASW) are looking for a motivated, committed, enthusiastic and knowledgeable individual to join a dedicated, hardworking team on a part time, one year contract.

Based at home you will join the SASW professional team to work with staff and active members to support SASW in its work around adults services and, in particular, the emerging National Care Service Programme. To contribute to other ongoing SASW work and engagement with members for the benefit of members, the profession, people who use social work services and other stakeholders. To support develop and co-ordinate BASW’s activities in Scotland.

You must be committed to the highest standards of practice, have enthusiasm, drive and determination.

This role would suit either a qualified social worker with national social work policy knowledge or a policy professional with sound knowledge of social work. You could join us either as an employed member of the Association or as a self-employed contractor.

The post holder will need direct experience or a good understanding of current policy and practice in adult social work in Scotland and a sound understanding of the political landscape/policy in social work in Scotland.

Events Co-ordinator and Business Support Officer

The Scottish Association of Social Work (SASW) are looking for an experienced events coordinator/business support administrator to join the Team in Edinburgh.

Are you a well organised administrator, able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment?

Do you have experience of planning, co-ordinating and delivering high quality virtual, hybrid and face to face events?

Have you worked in a busy service area with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders?

Are you committed to excellent customer care standards?

And able to use your initiative, work to deadlines and competing priorities?

The successful applicant will be a highly motivated individual who is a team player with a proven track record of coordinating and delivering high quality events and a highly skilled, effective administrator with proven ability to consistently provide first class administration support to a busy team.

Communications & Policy Officer

The Scottish Association of Social Work (SASW) is recruiting for a maternity cover Communications & Policy Officer to ideally start 5th January 2022. The successful candidate will:

  • Engage effectively with policy makers in government, lobby for change and campaign actively on issues that directly impact on the social work profession, our members and people with lived experience.
  • Ensure SASW continues to have a strong voice for social work, human rights, social justice and will effectively influence, educate, advocate, challenge and campaign in the best interests of the profession and those who need and use our services.
  • Promote and develop the work of the SASW through effective engagement, influence, campaign lobbying and impact.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and committed individual with relevant communications experience and a successful track record of influencing policy change by leading campaigns, lobbying and engaging with all stakeholders including social workers, people with lived experience, politicians, campaign groups, policy representatives and coalition organisations.

As well as being able to demonstrate impact on policy change and experience of using policy, research, public campaigning, media and digital work to influence a broader change the successful candidate will provide excellent written content for internal use and external publications.

Working from our office space in Edinburgh with flexibility to work from home this contract is due to run for a minimum of 9 months and will start 5th January 2022.
