Sustrans Scotland is seeking to recruit a full-time officer with a passion for place and urban design to join our Infrastructure Delivery team.

Joining Sustrans Scotland as an Infrastructure Officer, you will be part of the Places for Everyone team, which supports a range of partners to design and develop inspirational projects that restore the balance of Scotland’s streets in favour of people walking, cycling and wheeling. Ideally, you will have a background in landscape architecture, urban design, planning, civil engineering, community engagement or behaviour change. As part of the team, you will contribute to the delivery of high-quality urban realm projects with a focus on people and place across Scotland (particularly the Highlands).

You will be based in the Inverness Office. Travel costs from office base to site and partner visits are covered. You will be expected to travel to site and partner visits by sustainable transport methods.

Based in Aberdeen with weekly travel to partners and offices within Aberdeenshire

You will be based in Aberdeen, with options for weekly home working and weekly work at partner offices. You will be expected to travel to site and partner visits by sustainable transport methods.

Please note the team also covers projects in Dundee; Angus; Fife; Perth and Kinross; and across the rest of Scotland, but current programme need is in Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire.

Policy Officer

This role will support Sustrans in ensuring our policies are strong, compelling and well-evidenced, working with colleagues to embed travelling actively in national and local policy. The role contributes to a programme of work that ensures Sustrans engages and influences key stakeholders to see the value of making it easy for people to walk and cycle more often for every day journeys.

With a good standard of education and proven experience in a similar role, you will have experience of researching or communicating public policy and of developing productive working relationships with a wide range of individuals and organisations. You will have excellent written and verbal communications skills, the ability to take an analytical approach to complex policy subject matters and to build and maintain effective working relationships. You will also have good organisational skills, be IT literate and have a good understanding of current transport issues and the politics in Scotland. You will also be committed to the promotion of sustainable transport.
