Gowrie Care provides support to more than 700 people across Angus, Dundee, Edinburgh, Fife, Glasgow and Perthshire for a client group of people with learning disabilities, mental health issues, autism, homelessness and addiction issues.
Oxgangs Project is a 24/7 temporary supported accommodation service located in Oxgangs Street, Edinburgh. Our 17 service users are male homeless individuals with a variety of support needs including substance misuse and mental health issues. The building consists of 7 service user shared flats and a staff resource.
Our main aim is to move service users on from the project and resettle them in the community in a permanent housing option suited to their needs. This is achieved by building supportive relationships with service users and assisting them to tackle the issues that led to their homelessness. The post involves working to a rota that involves backshifts and weekend working.
You should be confident in dealing with a homeless client group and have compassion and understanding for the issues homeless people face. You should also either hold an SVQ2 in Health and Social Care or have the willingness to undertake study to achieve this.
All successful candidates will be required to obtain registration with the SSSC within 6 months of taking up the post. For more information about registration please visit sssc.uk.com/registration
