Experienced Sessional Youth Workers

  • Part time
  • TBC
  • Moray
  • Closing 30th June 2019

The Warehouse@EYC is seeking to recruit experienced sessional youth workers to develop and deliver a new outreach project. The Listening Fund is a two year programme which seeks to build the capacity of the Youth Team to actively listen and respond to young people in our community. This position will be for up to 15 hours per week although this could change depending on the emerging needs of the communities we seek to involve.

Going beyond current practice and methodologies, the funding will allow us to ensure young people are fully recognised and included in decision-making processes in meaningful ways. This approach requires initiative, flexibility and adaptability and above all a passion for working with young people.

We have a thriving and ever-growing membership but we are keen to listen to and learn from currently under-represented young people; therefore we wish to recruit youth workers with experience of working with young people from the following communities:

  • LGBT
  • Travellers
  • Minority ethnic groups or those for whom English is not their first language
  • Learning and physically disabled

In return, we offer a fun working environment, a competitive salary and fully funded training. We strive to be a learning organisation and the successful candidate will be joining a team committed to delivering an excellent, contemporary and relevant youth work offer.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Plan, deliver and evaluate a wide range of activities, group work sessions and 1-2-1 consultations with young people and their representatives from the targeted groups
  • Embed listening practice into all activities, ensuring young people are empowered to influence the development of the project
  • Consult young people from the targeted communities to ensure they are enabled to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the Project
  • In consultation with the Youth Team Manager, share all new learning with the team, partner organisations, funders and the wider community
  • Build positive and lasting relationships with the targeted communities
  • Completion of reports to both the Board and funder, including participation in the Listening Fund convening events
  • The successful candidate must able to work evenings, weekends and during the school holidays.

Required Skills:

  • Experience in evidence based youth work
  • Experience working with the targeted community groups
  • Experience in outreach youth work
  • Confident in leading a variety of activities, including group work
  • Excellent organisation and communication skills
