Teens+ (Transitional Education Extra Needs Support) provide a service for young people with complex communication needs, autism & its complexities, and behaviours that challenge traditional services. Our primary goal is to help individuals achieve their full potential through gentle, lifelong learning. Our Transitional Education service is designed to assist young adults who are not quite ready to take the step into post school education, work or to a new home. We also provide a befriending service out with the normal hours of our service operation which is tailor made to each student’s needs.

We are now seeking an individual to join the Senior Management Team, ensuring that we provide high-quality education and social care to our students. Reporting to the CEO, the role will be responsible for developing and delivering the services in line with our person-centred education ethos. The Head of Service will be the Registered Manager and will work closely with our new Chief Executive Officer to develop and deliver new projects that meet our aspirations for growth.

You will be a pro-active leader with a track record in managing Multi-Disciplinary Teams. You will be values oriented with strong stakeholder management skills and in-depth knowledge of social care and the Scottish regulatory framework. Education Tutor

  • Full time
  • £22,000
  • Edinburgh
  • Closing 17th June 2021

Teens+ provides post school education and lifelong learning services for young people with complex communication needs including autism and learning disabilities. Based in two centres in Edinburgh (Liberton Brae and Ravenscroft), the service is person centred and individualised to ensure each student, regardless of needs, can reach their fullest potential.

We have an exciting opportunity for an Education Tutor to join our Multi-Disciplinary Team in TEENS+.

You will work closely with the other Education Tutors, Speech & Language Therapist, Team Leaders and Project Workers to develop Individual Learning Plans for our students, monitor their progress and manage outcomes. You will also be working closely with the students we support, their families and other external agencies, as well as supporting and coaching Project Workers to deliver education programmes to the students.

You will have previous experience in working with adults with additional supporting needs. Background in education is an advantage but not essential. For us, it’s not so much about what you know, but your attitude and values that are most important. We will provide full training on what you need to know, but you must be able to live our values:

  • Person centred – building positive relationships that recognise and celebrate the individual
  • Respect – respect and value differences
  • Humour – we want to see happy people, hear laughter and have fun
  • Compassion – we strive to create a caring and empathetic environment
  • Professional – passion and integrity are vital
  • Resilient – flexibility, confidence and creativity to turn challenges into opportunities.

One other important thing you need to know. The successful applicant must become a member of the PVG (Protection of Vulnerable Groups) Scheme. We will help complete this process, but you must be able to pass the required checks.
