Kids Operating Room
Kids Operating Room

Charity registered in Scotland SC048523

In January 2018 Garreth and Nicola Wood founded Kids Operating Room, with the goal of creating a world where every child has equal access to safe surgery. Studies show more children aged between five and fourteen die every year from surgically-treatable injuries than from malaria, HIV and TB combined. KidsOR works globally, supporting local surgeons with the correct equipment to allow them to care for their nation’s children. In many cases, KidsOR provides the first dedicated paediatric operating room in the whole country.

Top job! Director of Fundraising and Communications

  • Full time
  • £70,000 – £74,000
  • Edinburgh or London
  • Closing 24th June 2022

KidsOR is a UK based charity that works with partner hospitals in low and middle income countries to develop high quality, safe surgical services for children.

We work closely with regional Surgical Colleges, the Global Initiative for Children’s Surgery, partner NGOs and national Departments of Health to identify where the existing and/or training children’s surgeons are. We then work with those people and their teams to ensure they have all the equipment they need to properly care for local children.

We also provide scholarships for children’s surgery, helping strengthen local workforces and, in some countries, helping develop the first ever children’s surgeon.
