The Director of Development and Operations is a key member of JustRight Scotland’s executive leadership team, central to ensuring our successful performance and continued development as a leading human rights law centre and charity in Scotland.
Working closely with the Chief Executive Officer, this role provides strategic leadership to our organisational development, funding and income generation, and to our financial, people and operations management. The role is responsible for ensuring these functions are fully aligned with the charity’s Strategic Plan and that they perform efficiently, effectively and in line with our values.
The role’s responsibilities span project, service and partnership development; funding and income generation; funding and grant management for a £1M+ portfolio; organisational budget and financial management (turnover in 23-24 of £1.5M); senior oversight of all operational functions; deputising for the CEO as required; and reporting to the Board of Trustees.
A collaborative approach is crucial, with a strong focus in this role on creating and maintaining effective working relationships with staff, Executive colleagues, Trustees, and external partners.
The role holds delegated decision-making authority for a range of substantial budgetary, operational and policy responsibilities and directly manages two staff.

We are recruiting for a part-time Finance Officer to join JustRight Scotland - Scotland’s legal centre for justice and human rights. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to JustRight Scotland’s continuing success and high standards of performance by developing and delivering excellent financial administration and management.
If successful, you will work under the supervision of the Head of Operations to take a lead role in establishing an efficient and effective in-house finance function for the charity, managing day-to-day financial operations, and putting systems in place to ensure the organisation can sustain and grow into the future.

We are recruiting a full-time Participation & Development Officer for a fixed-term period until the end of August 2024. This role will help us facilitate our JustCitizens migrant advisory panel and connect our team of lawyers with our migration sector partners in community-based and grassroots organisations across Scotland.
Launched in 2020, our JustCitizens panel (justcitizens.scot) is a group of 15 migrants living in Scotland from a diverse range of countries and backgrounds, working to build a broad and inclusive vision of citizenship in Scotland.
This is a new role, and you will be responsible for facilitating our JustCitizens panel, identifying barriers to participation and ensuring that our panel members are supported and empowered to shape our policy, influencing and campaigning strategies.
You will also work to connect our team of lawyers with community-based and grassroots organisations across Scotland, sharing frontline experience from our casework and our legal expertise, and building partnerships that secure migrants’ rights and promote a more inclusive approach to migrants in Scotland.
If successful, you will work under the supervision of our Legal Director & Head of the Scottish Refugee and Migrant Centre (SRMC), as well as working closely with our Director of Policy & Strategy at JustRight for All, which is our policy, research and training hub.
Candidates must have two or more years of relevant experience in an equivalent role, or a degree or qualification in a related field, such as community organising / development, advocacy or project management as well as a commitment to tackling inequality, promoting human rights and working to achieve social justice.

We are growing our team by employing a Digital Learning & Admin Assistant to support our newly launched social enterprise, JRS Knowhow, to develop our systems and services, to enable us to reach new partners and clients.
We are looking for someone with an interest in both digital and learning and development, who is keen to work for a value-driven organisation in the non-profit sector.

JustRight Scotland is excited to announce that we are seeking to appoint at least two skilled and committed members to our Board of Trustees. These new Board members will also be appointed to the Board of the new social enterprise of JustRight Scotland, JRS Knowhow.
The successful candidates will play an important part in supporting the continuing success of JustRight Scotland and overseeing the development of JRS Knowhow.
We are looking for candidates who have skills and experience relevant to both roles. Training will be provided.
Expected commitment

Location: Meetings in central Glasgow and central Edinburgh (currently online)
Time commitment: Around 8 days per year comprising; attendance at meetings (weekday evenings and Saturdays), subject to the needs of the organisation, and reasonable email correspondence and preparation for meetings.

JRS Knowhow
JRS Knowhow is a social enterprise which has been established to develop and deliver training, knowledge transfer and skills development in law and human rights. It will help people and organisations share great ideas and teach important skills, using technology and best practice in accessible methods of learning.
The role of Trustee
You will help us shape the future of our innovative charity and social enterprise. This important role involves sharing responsibility for JRS’ governance and strategy and ensuring the charity and social enterprise is administered effectively and in accordance with law.

Your skills and experience
Essential criteria

Desirable criteria
Demonstrable understanding of the governance of a social enterprise, or experience of developing, delivering, or managing remote learning
Experience of business planning, especially in the context of a new start-up.
Background in any of the following, whether in public, private or charity sector: governance, strategy, policy, IT/digital, fundraising and income generation, communications, human resources, finance, audit and risk.
