Through workshops, tuition, rehearsals and performances musicALL brings people together to build relationships, and offers adults with disabilities access to continued training and performance opportunities after leaving school. musicALL is looking for a dynamic, forward thinking, ambitious individual to join us as our Project Manager one of the key members of our small core team.

musicALL is an innovative Glasgow-based charity working with disabled and neurodivergent people to access opportunities across music making activities.

‘musicALL Pathways’ provides high quality music tuition, rehearsal, and performance opportunities for hundreds of disabled and neurodivergent young people each year through our Make Your Own Kind of Music bands project in Additional Support for Learning (ASL) secondary schools, and our Move On Up bands project for school leavers.

‘musicALL Presents’ supports established acts, including our band in residence the Fridays to bring their music to wider audiences through projects that focus on artistic and audience development opportunities including recording; marketing and distribution; and live performance.

‘musicALL Hubs’ will support disabled and non-disabled musicians across Scotland through the creation of a new digital resource to develop and deliver projects in their communities, helping to overcome geographical barriers, develop inclusive creative communities throughout the country, and support musicALL’s aim to achieve cultural change on a national level.

The Project Manager will lead on the delivery of all of our regular activities and, working closely with the Executive Director; Creative Lead; and Information and Content Creator, oversee the management of our audience facing events, including professional level gigs in venues across Scotland and launch campaigns for music recorded by our inclusive bands.

Our mission is to make people heard through music, and our vision is that music activities and opportunities are fairer, more inclusive, and open to talented individuals regardless of their background especially for those who are disabled and / or neurodivergent.

With this vision we hope to promote a fairer, inclusive society where disabled people feel valued and supported to fully access all aspects of the Glasgow music scene without facing prejudice.

Applicants must be committed to working to this vision, and as part of the Senior Management team driving forward our strategy for growth across our projects which ultimately aim to provide greater opportunities for musicians who are disabled and / or neurodivergent.

musicALL has been delivering high quality music opportunities for disabled young people since 2013 and is focused on the creation of a society that ensures everyone has access to opportunities that enable them to enjoy their rights and fulfil their potential.

Due to the impending retiral of its founder, musicALL’s Board of Trustees are looking to recruit into the critical role of Director, who will:

  • Continue the delivery of musicALL’s high quality offer.
  • Develop, in conjunction with the Board, and oversee the delivery of a new strategic plan.
  • Ensure the ongoing financial sustainability of musicALL, identifying and securing new funding streams.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of a blended model of delivery, recognising both the significant benefit and impact of face-to-face interaction and the opportunities associated with new and emerging digital technologies.
  • Develop and oversee a strategic and proactive approach to extending musicAll’s service provision, reach and, ultimately, its impact across Scotland.
  • Develop and maintain positive strategic partnerships with local authorities, schools, care homes, funders and other third sector organisations to ensure all have access to music opportunities that enable them to enjoy their rights and fulfil their potential.

With an awareness and experience of the positive impact music can have on people’s lives, you will bring relevant strategic and operational management experience, experience of effectively managing resources and budgets, and strong stakeholder management experience. With compassion, patience and empathy, and a willingness and ability to operate at all levels within the organisation, the successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate:

  • A strong commitment to musicALL’s vision to contribute to the creation of a society that ensures everyone has access to opportunities that enable them to enjoy their rights and fulfil their potential.
  • Direct experience securing funding from various sources, including securing commissioned contracts and trust and foundation applications, and, ideally, experience of leading an organisation operating within tight financial constraints.
  • A proven track record in building and maintaining a wide range of collaborative relationships and partnerships.
  • A strong understanding of, and commitment to, the key principles of safeguarding at an organisational and practice level.
  • Demonstrable awareness of the opportunities that emerging digital technology offers in transforming frontline service delivery and engagement with children and young people.
