Angus Carers Association (trading as Angus Carers Centre) is an organisation established by carers, for carers. The Association was established in October 1996 and became part of the Royal Princess Trust for Carers network in November 1997, then becoming known as “Angus Carers Centre”.
Angus Carers Centre is a well-regarded and successful charity/organisation providing tailored information, advice, emotional and practical support to young people and adults who care for a relative or friend who, due to illness, disability, mental health conditions or addiction, could not manage without their care and support.
Today Angus Carers Centre has 20 staff, 50 volunteers, 1,500 registered adult carers and 90 young carers.
Job Summary
The CEO is a critical role, directly responsible for developing and executing the internal operational strategies necessary to achieve the goals and objectives of the charity.
The job holder will be line managed both strategically and operationally by the Chair of the Board, in their absence the Vice Chair.
The job holder will have a track record in developing innovation and creativity in relation to strategic business growth, in addition to ensuring internal daily planning, implementation, management, and oversight of the charity.
You will be a career-orientated and hands-on individual who is extremely capable and ‘makes things happen’. You will be at the heart of decision making, working in collaboration and in partnership with the Board of Trustees to develop the strategic direction of the charity.
You will have a natural ability to use software packages, especially Excel, pull and present data, validating it and making recommendations on the back of your analysis.
You will be able to turn your hand at almost anything needed to deliver the charities objectives and vision. Therefore, you must be able to multitask and adapt quickly. You will also be involved in coordinating and delivering key deadlines and business development projects for the charity.
Main responsibilities:
- Measurement: Review and evaluate the performance of the charities operational processes using a KPI focused approach. You will take steps to improve them and drive the charity forward making strategic recommendations to the Board which will help deliver the charities goals and objectives, ensuring that the charity continues to meet its carers needs.
- Strategy development: In partnership with the Board, you will develop strategies for the growth of the organisation, making sure they are implemented.
- Stakeholder Relationship Management: You will conduct regular reviews of data and feedback to ensure relevant data and insights are provided to the Board to aid decision making.
- Research and Insight: You will represent the charity on appropriate outside bodies, liaising with other charities, our funders, and national organisations, collating insightful intelligence on changes and opportunities in the field of carers, presenting findings to the Board to inform decision-making.
- People Management: Empower and develop the small operational team with the leadership and resources they need to successfully complete operations initiatives.
- Financial Management: In partnership with the Chief Financial Officer develop and control all operational budgets to ensure the charity has all the resources required to meet its objectives within agreed financial parameters and to maintain the financial strength of the charity.
Essential Duties:
- Provides day-to day operational leadership and support to Angus Carers employees.
- Manage the performance of Angus Carer employees.
- Develop, implement, and manage operational policies and procedures.
- Find solutions to complex problems by breaking down complicated issues and communicating effectively to the Board of Directors.
- Develop and maintain effective communication and reporting to the Board of Directors
- Help drive grant activity related to day-to-day operations, working with the funding manager, overseeing outcomes with reporting.
- Ensures all legal and regulatory documents are filed, reported, audited and in compliance with laws and regulations for the charity.

We want to build a diverse and inclusive board that reflects the people we support and encourage and welcome applications from candidates from all backgrounds and perspectives. There will be an induction and support programme for all new trustees.
The duties of a trustee are as follows.
• Ensuring that the organisation complies with its governing document (memorandum and articles of association), charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations
• Ensuring that the organisation applies its resources exclusively in pursuance of its charitable objects (i.e., the charity must not spend money on activities that are not included in its own objects, however worthwhile or charitable those activities are) for the benefit of the public
• Ensuring that the organisation defines its goals and evaluates performance against agreed targets
• Safeguarding the good name and values of the organisation
• Ensuring the effective and efficient administration of the organisation, including having appropriate policies and procedures in place
• Ensuring the financial stability of the organisation
In addition to the above duties, each trustee should use any specific skills, knowledge or experience they must help the board of trustees reach sound decisions. This may involve scrutinising board papers, leading discussions, focusing on key issues, providing advice and guidance on new initiatives, or other issues in which the trustee has special expertise.
Terms
In line with the Good Governance Code a trustee can fulfil their role for up to two three-year terms, in exceptional circumstances this could be extended for a further term with the agreement of the board.
Trustee meetings will take place 6 weekly with a mixture of in-person meetings in Grant Road, Arbroath and online.

Role Purpose
Reporting directly to the Board of Directors through the Chair, the Chief Executive Officer is accountable for ensuring Angus carers Centre provides the highest quality support to unpaid carers, always seeking to achieve and improve on the services provided through out Angus. The Chief Executive Officer is accountable for providing senior leadership and operational management including overall responsibility for the delivery of all support delivered. As Carers Link Worker for Angus Carers Centre you will work within a team responsible for unpaid adult carer identification and support for unpaid carers.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- Provide information about available services, benefits and other organisations of interest to carers
- Provide individual one to one support to carers and assess the support needs of carers
- Work alongside the Carer Development Workers to ensure carers outcomes are met in an appropriate and meaningful way
- Signpost to appropriate services to help lessen the impact of the caring role on carers
- Raise awareness of unidentified carers and support carers already identified
- Bring carers together for mutual support and develop support groups as appropriate
- Organise social and leisure activities for carers
- Work as part of the team to organise and facilitate or deliver appropriate training for carers
- Liaise with the Volunteer Development Worker in relation to matching volunteers and carers for the volunteer befriending service
- Develop positive links with other service providers, promoting the needs of carers

As Carer Support Worker for Angus Carers Centre, you will work within a team responsible for unpaid adult carer identification and provide appropriate support to carers.

Angus Carers Centre, supporting unpaid carers across Angus, is seeking to appoint a Funding Officer to further our income generation ambitions. We are embarking on a period of development and growth and are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced funding officer to generate increased levels of income to enhance our services.
We are looking for a passionate and dynamic individual with broad experience including trust and foundations, corporate partnerships, community and events, individual giving, legacies and major donors.
You will be responsible for developing various strands of our income generation activity and will work alongside the Chief Executive Officer to seek out opportunities to expand our income streams and continue to grow the charity.
