Senior Play Ranger

The Play Ranger Project will facilitate and support playful spaces in local communities where children and adults feel safe, comfortable and welcome to play. Play Rangers will facilitate free, outdoor, local play sessions, engaging children and young people to bring play to the heart of the community. Thanks to funding from Inspiring Scotland, East Lothian Play Association (ELPA) is delighted to invite applications for this new project providing play opportunities in the areas of Tranent, Elphinstone and Prestonpans in East Lothian.

The Senior Play Ranger role involves working directly with children and young people in their communities whilst also leading a small Play Ranger team. The Senior Play Ranger will have an excellent understanding of the benefits of the Play Ranger Model of working, be resourceful and have the skills to lead on the development of the project alongside the Play Rangers. The applicant must be confident in working with children and young people, particularly in outdoor spaces and in all weathers. The successful applicant will have excellent communication skills, a clear understanding of child development and the benefits of play, a creative and dynamic personality and excellent interpersonal skills for working with both children and adults. The successful applicant will be expected to work with colleagues to gather evidence of and report on project outcomes.

The post will initially run until end of April 2020 (further funding is being sought).

· Applications must be received by 9am Tuesday, 20th August 2019

· Interviews are expected to be held on 28th, 29th or 30th August 2019

· Anticipated start date for this post is September 2019 and will be subject to PVG and reference checks.
