Are you creative and an outside-of-the-box thinker? Do you know how to engage young people in play and encourage their creativity?
If so, this role could be right up your street.
About the project
Since 2017 Cyrenians has been running the Visitors’ Centre at HMP Addiewell. We are committed to supporting families affected by imprisonment. Our centre is open during prison visiting times and we offer families who visit Addiewell a space that is therapeutic, fun and supportive.
About the role
This is a new post to enhance the work we do with children and families at HMP Addiewell during their visits.
You will design and deliver engaging activities, suitable to the space, that encourage creativity in the young people and help them have the best visit experience possible – the more glitter the better!
You will also make links with other local organisations in order be able to help families access additional activities and/or support.
About you
This is a great opportunity for a creative individual who has experience of working with children. You should be innovative in your approach to play and engaging with children; as well being as a good communicator with strong listening skills. Sensitive to the needs of prisoner’s families, you should also be unafraid of being a bit silly when required!
How we will support you
You will be working within a small knowledgeable team who will give you a full induction to all aspects of Cyrenians HMP Addiewell visitor centre. You’ll have a supportive manager, and direct line management from a senior key worker as well as access to wider Cyrenians support, including our learning and development programme, and staff wellbeing services.
About us
At Cyrenians we tackle the causes and consequences of homelessness. We understand that there are many routes into homelessness, and that there is no ‘one size fits all’ approach to supporting people towards more positive and stable futures. That’s why all our work is values-led and relationships-based.
Our values
• Compassion: We believe that everyone should have the chance to change, no matter how long that might take.
• Respect: We believe in tolerance, acceptance, valuing diversity and treating each other as equals.
• Integrity: We are committed to the highest quality of work, grounded in honesty, generosity, sincerity and professionalism.
• Innovation: We are willing to take risks, challenge convention and be creative in our search for new ways of working, in particular by taking account of the environmental impact of our decisions.
