Our youth worker will share our vision to see young people come to a vibrant Christian faith, grow in discipleship and learn to serve the Church and the world. While Sunday worship is central to our church life, we want to be church in our community 24/7. Youth ministry is a key part of our vision to develop our Community Church Centre as “A dynamic community hub where people of all ages are shown God’s love by being welcomed, respected and supported towards the fullness of life that God intends.”

Qualifications and Experience
You will be able to demonstrate significant previous experience of leading youth ministry within church, school, and/or the community. Experience of leading residential events would also be an advantage. You will ideally be educated to degree level or equivalent, preferably holding a recognised qualification in theology or youth work. We will welcome evidence of your track record of good working relationships with people of diverse ages and backgrounds, including young people, their families, teachers and the wider church family.
It is a Genuine Occupational Requirement that the postholder should be a practising Christian.
Knowledge and Skills
This is a full-time post – 37.5 hours per week. The postholder will spend at least 75% of their time on youth ministry; however, in agreement with the Line Manager, they may spend around 8 hours per week in ONE non youth-related role as part of the vision of the Community Church Centre. For example, running sport or dance clubs, working in the café, or running a toddler’s group – depending on the youth worker’s personal skills and
Salary will be £25-27,000 per annum depending on experience.
There will be a 5% employer’s pension contribution available.
This post will be line-managed by the Minister of Auchterarder Parish Church. The youth worker will work in conjunction with the church’s Youth and Families team and will report through them to the Kirk Session.
The nature of the work calls for a degree of flexibility, and evening and weekend work is expected. Regular patterns of work and time off will be agreed with the Line Manager.
The youth worker will have access to shared office space in the Community Church Centre; however, some working from home should be expected.
A laptop will be provided. Travel and other expenses will be reimbursed at rates agreed by your Line Manager.
There are 5 weeks paid leave in each full holiday year which runs from 1 January to 31 December. Entitlement is based on full weeks worked. There are also 10 statutory holidays.
In view of the nature of the post, the post holder will be required to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme (PVG)
