At Garvald Mayfield House we have five workshops: Kitchen, Garden, Textiles, Jewellery and Pottery; the posts would be based across two or more of these workshops. One post would be primarily based in the Jewellery workshop.This is an exciting opportunity for creative and motivated individuals with relevant craft, gardening and food production skills and experience of supporting adults with learning disabilities.
Midlothian Sure Start is a dynamic, award winning voluntary Organisation. It offers a quality support service to families with children up to age 10 across Midlothian. Midlothian Sure Start has been in existence since 2001 and employs over 80 members of staff providing a service in six family support centres. Our ethos is to provide a holistic, confidential community based service where Project Users are at the heart of the service.
With a passion for working with young children and a strong understanding of pre-birth to three framework and Building the Ambition, the successful candidate will develop, deliver, monitor & evaluate a program of activities and support for Parents and Carers to work towards Positive Destinations, such as Education, Volunteering, Apprenticeships and Employment. Our Positive Future project is funded by the Hunter Foundation and Scottish Government, to provide services to families in order to address drivers of poverty, and support them into positive destinations.
An HNC in Social Care or Community Education, or equivalent is essential.
Previous experience of working with adults is essential.
Previous experience of supporting Parents/Carers is desirable.
Knowledge of and experience in, community learning and development is also desirable.
