To work as a member of the Assertive Outreach Team, which aims to offer support to single homeless women, providing permanent housing directly to homeless individuals with ongoing assertive but flexible support, with a strong focus on harm reduction and sustainable tenancy within the community.

Women only including those with a Gender Recognition Certificate need apply under Schedule 9 (part 1) of the Equality Act 2010.

You will be required to provide creative permanent housing solutions, whilst providing support consistent with the internationally recognised Housing First Fidelities:

• People have a right to a home
• Flexible support is provided for as long as is needed

• An active engagement approach is used
• The service is based on people’s strengths, goals and aspirations

Our DAYS Service supports all young people of any gender aged between 8 and 18 who live in Dundee or Angus and have experienced any type of sexual abuse.

We take a flexible approach to planning support to best meet the needs of the young person, this can be school, home, community or at our office. We offer a variety of support for young people and are led by the individual.

1:1 Support- We offer emotional support to survivors. Each session is a safe and confidential space for survivors to process the trauma they have experienced at their own pace. We do this by using a range of therapeutic interventions and tools which are survivor centred.

Group work support - We various creative groups and peer support groups all of which aims to reduce isolation and extend social circles. The aim of these are to build survivors support networks and build survivors confidence, reducing isolation and feelings of blame and shame.

We are seeking an individual who demonstrates a knowledge of the impact of trauma on young people and age-appropriate support tools / methods and can provide and has significant experience of providing trauma-based models of support to young survivors

To provide support and assistance to the Dundee Women’s Aid team to enable the best possible service to be provided to service users.

KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Welcome women and children into refuge accommodation and carry out the admission process including explaining the occupancy agreement as well as the rules and conditions of stay.
• Provide an induction to new residents on the heating system, security of the premises and electrical equipment.
• Where appropriate assist women in refuge with the completion of forms, etc.
• Clean and prepare refuge properties for occupation by service users. This can include moving furniture, working at heights and some manual handling.
• Carry out weekly checks of refuge accommodation for Health & Safety purposes and ensure that flats are properly maintained.
• Report all welfare concerns to the appropriate manager.
• Arrange and coordinate any necessary refuge repairs with the necessary tradesmen.
• Respond to ad hoc Health and Safety checks including CCTV.
• Arrange and assist with routine Health and Safety inspections from outside agencies.
• Maintain and check periodically the inventory of furnishings, bedding, crockery, kitchen utensils, etc pertinent to each flat and arrange to repair or replace items where necessary.
• Complete minor DIY repairs and maintenance tasks including painting and decorating and building flat pack furniture.
• Ensure all refuge resources and stock are replenished, accessible and stored in a tidy manner.
• Assist in the update of refuge information packs for refuge properties.
• Contribute to team meetings and work plans.
• There may be a requirement to work outwith normal working hours on occasions.

The post holder is required to travel extensively throughout Dundee. It is a requirement of the post holder to hold a full driving licence and have access to a vehicle with insurance cover for business use. Please note, applicants who do not meet this criteria will not be shortlisted.

Purpose of the post

• To work as part of the Women’s Support (WS) team to support and empower women who have experience of domestic abuse. In doing so, providing a quality service that meets legal requirements and DWA standards, policies and guidelines.
• To promote the work of DWA in the local and wider community and work in partnership with others to develop services and provide support within the community.

• To participate as part of the team in the ongoing development of services to abused women whether in refuge, re-housed from refuge or through the outreach service.

About Outreach Dundee

Aberlour Family Outreach Dundee provides support to families who are struggling to cope as a result of drug and alcohol use within the family. We give children a trusted person they can talk to, while supporting parents to create a safe environment for their children through addressing their dependency and improving parenting confidence.

We are looking for a Child and Family Worker to work 37.5 hours per week, predominantly Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm with the occasional need to work out with these times depending on the needs of the families.

You will hold, or be willing to work towards, a relevant professional qualification at SCQF level 7 or above together with relevant experience of working with children or young people. Our Options Dundee Service works in partnership with families to offer tailored packages of support to help families to stay together. The support we provide is based on the needs of the family and takes a variety of forms including supported morning and bedtime routines in the family homes and 1:1 sessions with children and young people to support them to access the community and a variety of groups we run.

We are looking to recruit a Relief Family Worker to provide ad hoc cover when staff are on holiday or are off sick. Relief Workers are a vital part of our team, helping to ensure that full cover is available throughout the year.

Work is offered on a casual basis: Relief Workers are not obliged to accept shifts offered and Aberlour is not obliged to offer shifts. The Health Defence Coordinator will be responsible for the delivery of the Health Defence programme covering the Tayside area. The role includes delivering health checks; healthy lifestyle workshops; and supporting lifestyle change to reduce the risk of our conditions in local communities, particularly where there is a high prevalence of health inequalities and deprivation. The role will also involve the development and line management of volunteer roles to optimise our reach.

The Health Defence Coordinator will also be expected to support integration of Health Defence across CHSS while working closely with colleagues in the services directorate to enable CHSS activities where appropriate.
